Where Is Our Art Inspired From?
Caylin takes after my mom in her beautiful artistic touches and her colorful creativity. My mom has always had an insane talent that allows her to be able to see something and reproduce it beautifully onto a canvas. She can see color in ways that I have never known before, and she can make it all work together in beautiful harmony. She matches that natural gift with hard work and commitment that allows her to produce hand drawn prints that look incredibly beautiful on the clothes you buy!
Growing up, we had the opportunity to visit my grandfather about twice a month in Lexington, Kentucky. Being able to go to his house was one of my favorite things in the world! The beautiful rolling hills and horse farms of Kentucky paired with the white picket fences are unmatched in beauty! It was not just the physical beauty that made me so excited to go, but rather the sweet quality time we were able to spend with my grandfather. He was a man who bursted with generosity, who taught us to value hard work and dedication, and who loved with his whole heart. In his house, I would walk around and just stare in awe at the “Rebecca Whitaker Originals” originals that he proudly hung up around his house from her high school and college years. One of my favorites was a sketched drawing of Princess Jasmine that my sisters and I would just marvel at because it looked identical to the cartoon character! No doubt, my mom has talent.
However, because my mom is the person she is, she stopped investing time into her creative gifts and passions in order to invest all of her time into my sisters and I. She is a woman who is quick to make sacrifices for those around her and does it with joy! So, those original pieces were hard to come by for many years.
As I was thinking about decorating my dorm room for college for my freshman year, the only artwork that I wanted to hang on my walls were “Rebecca Doehring Originals.” I wanted her to bring my favorite scenes to life with wonderful colors like she so skillfully can! To write out my favorite verse and adorn it with beautiful flowers! Although it had been a while, my mom loaded up on her art supplies and got to work. And guess what? During room tours on my hall for a little hall bonding, my RA asked me what my favorite part of my room was— with great confidence, I pointed to my mama’s artwork and with pride I said— “My mom’s paintings without a doubt!” I love to show my mom’s work off and it makes me so happy that the world gets to be blessed by her gift as well!
Don’t worry, I have not stopped requesting different designs, and each time she just knocks my vision out of the park and brings it all together perfectly!
My hope is that you all enjoy the “Rebecca Doehring Originals” that you will wear on your products just as much as I do!
